Oh Goodness
So, I downloaded copies of textpattern and wordpress and have been playing with both of them.
Here is the sad truth: try as I may, I like wordpress better.
It just seems to require less hacking in general. I just don’t have the time for all the hacking. Sure, wordpress is huge. Sure, its not that pretty. It also doesn’t have sections. This is probably my biggest problem with wordpress. That,...

CMS Woes
So, Rails is now at 1.1 Yay for rails! Except.
I haven’t been able to update Typo in months, and according to some messages in the Typo mailing list, Rails 1.1 breaks Typo.
I’m not sure what to do about any of this. I could figure out how to have Typo just run on it’s own version of rails, separate from my host’s version (they’re updating to rails 1.1 any day now). However, then I’m stuck...

Hmm ...
So I haven’t posted in a while. Mostly because I was afraid that my 30-day trial of MarsEdit was done. Now whats really strange is, apparently, my NetNewsWire serial works for MarsEdit, too. So, I checked the Ranchero website, and apparently, I have a combo serial. Now, I bought NetNewsWire a really long time ago. Apparently, I paid $39.95 for it. So I guess it is a combo price now. Who knows. But...

MBP Progress
This will be the last Macbook Pro post for a while. Seriously.
I upgraded to 2GB of ram (thanks, Crucial!). I must say that is has really made a difference. I can actually use Photoshop while having other programs open now! Not only that, but Photoshop is speedy! I can have Photoshop and Microsoft Word open at the same time! Whoa.
Another major point is that I discovered a xViD Quicktime...

Google Mail Knows All!
So I was checking my Gmail account today, and lo and behold, there was an advertisement just perfect for me. My favorite shirt-making company ever is Splendid, and wouldn’t you know it, there was an advertisement for Splendid clothing at a website above my inbox!
Now, I should point out that Splendid doesn’t have a website. Their clothing is just sold at other websites. So, presumably,...

A Week With the MacBook Pro
So my Powerbook died a week ago today. I must say that I have had quite an enjoyable week with my MacBook Pro. Man, it’s a beautiful thing.
It is in most cases much faster than I could have ever imagined. Rosetta eats ram like nobodody’s business, though. My advice to you is to get as much ram as you can possibly afford. Of course Photoshop is slow. it has always been slow for me though, so...

The Intel MacMini, Tivo, and Whatever Else
So Apple didn’t come out with a a Mac Media Center. The came out with a Mac Mini with a new version of Front Row that can capture data from other computers in your house. Which is pretty cool. It’s not a PVR. It’s not a Tivo. You also cannot play .avi in Front Row. It’s just a complete pain in the butt to convert all of my old .avi files into a Front Row format.
While I’m sure I could buy an...
