Lack of Time Machine’s Airdisk support. This has been universally complained about, and you can add me to the list. I’m pretty sure official support for Airdisks is on the way. I have found my Airdisk to be pretty buggy in general.
However I seemed to have unintenionally gotten a partition on my Airdisk to be supported by Time Machine. Basically I connected my external via USB to my Mbp (temporarily took it off the extreme) and made a new partition. When Leopard saw the new partiton it asked if I wanted to use it with Leopard, and I said yes. Then I ejected the disk and re-added to my extreme. Now Time Machine seems to recognize my disk even though its an Airdisk.
I haven’t changed any icons other than my drives because I simply don’t have the patience without a working Candybar or Pixadex. I eagerly await new Leopard-compatible versions that are supposed to be coming soon.
Sleep display hot corner option. This is crazy useful if you have a laptop. Its a great way to save a little power when you’re on the batter and don’t have to look at the screen for a few.
Sexy. Leopard, for the most part, is the best looking OS I’ve ever seen. I really enjoy the unified look. I still don’t like the dock, though and I’m use that ‘no-glass’ hidden preference for a dock on the bottom. I also really wish you could change the color of the Finder’s sidebar, that blue kind of bothers me. Otherwise, I pretty much totally love it. Good riddance brushed metal!
Spaces. I’m really liking Spaces. Its nice not having every program on the desktop at the same time. I do, however, wish you could assign specific windows to follow you around. I know you can assign programs to follow you around, but what about just a window? I’d love for my todo list window in TextMate to follow me around, but I want the rest of TextMate in its own space.
AutoFS. The other night I was at Matt’s and was connected to one of his computer’s drives. When I left I put my mbp to sleep, and when I came home and woke it up… it didn’t freeze! It just asked if I wanted to disconnect from the disk and moved on. Fantastic.
Snappiness. It just is. I hardly ever see the rainbow ball of death anymore. Everything just feels so smooth. Even Spotlight is pretty usable. In fact if there was a way to add web search strings to spotlight (like you can in Quicksilver/Launchbar) I think I might not even use Quicksilver anymore…
Mail also seems much faster and smoother. I just miss Letterbox and Mail Act-On hopefully they will both be upgraded soon.
So overall I am very pleased with Leopard. Totally worth upgrading, in my opinion.
About a month late…

Theme - Tweaked NiCo Mini
I have to admit that I think that this is pretty much my favorite theme ever. The buttons are just incredible.
Wallpaper - ToastandTea
I love the paper-doll style.
Icons - David Lanham
Questions, just ask. :D
Mephisto pretty much has the best designed CMS admin I’ve ever seen, but when I first saw SimpleLog‘s new color scheme I fell in love, and had to give Mephisto’s admin a (tiny) makeover.
In other news…
Apple is going to fix my Macbook Pro for free! Yay! They’re also going to do it in-store, so it should only take a couple of days. They seem to think it is the case instead of the button in the front, but my guess is once they open the case they can fix the button anyway. They are going to call me to bring it in when they receive the parts. Once again I am super impressed with the Walt Whitman Apple Store.
I haven’t watched the whole thing yet, (I have it Tivo’d, though), it seems from these clips that Rainn Wilson did a fabulous job last night. I’m quite impressed.
I haven’t listened to We Are Scientists in months, and forgot how friggin good they are. Seriously.
Almost Oscar time. I have a bunch of reading to do, but it is supposed to snow, so I’m hoping I will have extra time to read tomorrow.
… Or, another reason for my Apple love.
So last saturday I was writing a paper on my bed and my laptop randomly shut down. It has been randomly shutting down regularly while running on the battery for the past week. Unfortunately my battery was not eligible for the battery-recall exchange type thing. So I called Apple support yesterday morning and the guy was nice enough to offer me a free exchange which was expressed shipped last night. Yay! I didn’t even have to treck to the Apple store! It was very very nice of them. Especially since, according to MiniBattery Logger, my battery is dying an untimely death tomorrow.
It has been a while since I posted a screenshot! So what we have here is…
Modified TextMate Shortcuts Desktop.
Programs: Adium, Textmate, Twitterrific, & a vinyl album art widget.
Theme: Modified gray-scaled Amora Pearl theme.
If you have any questions feel free to ask! : )
I have ported all my javascript effects to moo.fx and slimbox, but the slide effects are a bit quirky, so I haven’t uploaded it yet. I am, all in all, very pleased with moo.fx. For someone with hardly any javascript experience, it was a pleasure to work with and you have to love how skinny the libraries are. The hide() function just does not seem to hide immediately on load, which is just annoying. I have been trying to find a solution, but putting any inline styles on your element doesn’t work at all. I figure there must be some trick somewhere.
I have been looking at various content management systems, all based on different platforms. Mephisto looks interesting. Time to play!
From left to right: Quicksilver, Synergy, Textpander, Gmail Notifier, Pinki, and Menumeters. Another nice thing about all these programs is that they are all universal.
One of my favorite programs, Cocoalicious, is now unviersal! Yay! Now the only app (other than Adobe CD and Microsoft Office) that I use that needs to be to be universal is Notational Velocity.
I went to the gym for the first time in around two years today. It was exhilarating. I have a feeling I’m going to be in some pain tomorrow. I wanted to actually write an actual interesting story here tonight, but I’m so worn out that its going to have to wait until tomorrow. Time for bed.
This will be the last Macbook Pro post for a while. Seriously.
I upgraded to 2GB of ram (thanks, Crucial!). I must say that is has really made a difference. I can actually use Photoshop while having other programs open now! Not only that, but Photoshop is speedy! I can have Photoshop and Microsoft Word open at the same time! Whoa.
Another major point is that I discovered a xViD Quicktime Component that works with the majority of my xViD files. The DivX Intel beta works for a few, but crashes way too often. Yay for watching American Idol in Front Row!
My goodness the ram has just made such a difference. Weeeeeeee!
So I was checking my Gmail account today, and lo and behold, there was an advertisement just perfect for me. My favorite shirt-making company ever is Splendid, and wouldn’t you know it, there was an advertisement for Splendid clothing at a website above my inbox!
Now, I should point out that Splendid doesn’t have a website. Their clothing is just sold at other websites. So, presumably, google indexed all of my archived email, and noticed a whole bunch of Splendid clothing in various emails. I mean it totally makes sense and all… but still, it is just a little creepy.
